Song Placements Empowers Musicians As They Regain Copyrights
1976 Copyright Act provides musicians with added leverage over copyrights
[USPRwire, Wed Mar 31 2010] Song Placements, a leader in music promotion and placement, stands at the forefront of today’s ever-evolving industry as provisions in the 1976 Copyright Act begin to take effect in the years to come.
Sections 203 and 304 of the Copyright Act grant artists the right to regain their copyrights after a set period of time: 56 years for recordings made before 1978 (Sec. 304) and 35 years for recordings made after 1978. The first group of artists (or their heirs, in some cases) has already filed notices to record and publishing companies in order to acquire their copyrights in full or to change their contracts in a manner that benefits them more.
Song Placements is in the best position to assist these artists regain control of their careers through strategic media placements. The company has established itself as a leader in music promotion and placement opportunities in a variety of media channels while preserving artists’ copyrights.
“Established artists who are looking to regain their footing as independent musicians or to separate themselves from their record labels and publishers in any degree can take advantage of our company’s services and partnerships,” says company founder David Hitt. “It is no surprise that our company has grown concurrently with the industry as we continuously strive to promote artists in traditional and new media in a number of creative and innovative ways.”
