New Publication Explores the Book of Psalms
"Ruminating on the Psalms, Volume 1," a new book by author James M. Thomas explores the significance of the Book of Psalms. This is the first in a series of five volumes that examine each of the 150 psalms of the Old Testament.
[USPRwire, Wed Aug 25 2010] The Book of Psalms is one of the most beloved of the Old Testament canon. Yet many of the psalms are often taken for granted. Now author James M. Thomas looks at these songs with new eyes. Beginning with the Authorized King James Version, Thomas explores the people and events of the psalms as well as key words and phrases that reveal the true meaning of each song.
The book began as a series of personal Bible study devotions by the author. Says Thomas, “Each psalm entry is not intended to be an exhaustive analysis. Rather, it is an attempt to peel away some of the psalm’s layers in order to better understand the psalm and its purpose.
Each entry begins with the full text of a psalm. This is followed by study notes and then closes with a short prayer, asking God to apply the lessons of the psalm.
"Ruminating on the Psalms, Volume 1" explores Psalm 1 through Psalm 30. The book is now available online through publisher Lulu (http://www.lulu.com) and through online retailer Amazon (http://www.amazon.com).
