The Hamner Institutes For Health Sciences Receives Funding To Study Inhalation Toxicity Of Jet Fuel

Dr. Darol E. Dodd Awarded $655,367 Grant By Naval Health Research Center

[USPRwire, Fri Feb 29 2008] The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences (www.thehamner.org), has announced that Dr. Darol E. Dodd, a senior research toxicologist at CIIT and director of toxicology and preclinical studies at The Hamner, has received a $655,367 contract from the Navy Health Research Center – Environmental Health Effects Laboratory Detachment. The grant will allow Dr. Dodd to conduct inhalation toxicity studies on a new jet fuel, Syntroleum® S-8.

Dr. Dodd and his team will study the generation and characterization of S-8 jet fuel aerosol and provide general toxicity data, including a neurobehavioral assessment of the effects related to inhalation exposure. This research is part of The Hamner’s specialized and ongoing inhalation toxicity studies that support health-hazard assessments of chemicals, drugs and related products.
