Finally, Radio Gets A Payback-New radio streaming technology saves big bucks
Stations can be “Jetcasting” (streaming) from their own Web site within 24 hours of making the commitment, using their existing graphics and industry standard Windows Media® Player as a convenience to station listeners.
[USPRwire, Sun Apr 15 2007] Jetcast radio content streaming today introduces new technology for radio broadcasters which makes possible high-bandwidth services at low costs.
The Jetcast technology debut is being unveiled this week at a series of “mini-press briefings” at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) annual convention in Las Vegas.
Broadcast streaming has long been hampered by increasing monthly fees. The debut of Jetcast’s commitment to high quality audio at affordable prices removes this price and space barrier for stations in the USA and worldwide.
The first service of its kind driven by experienced radio veterans, Jetcast’s goal is to save stations money on streaming costs, improving audio quality and eliminating artificial listener “caps” to simultaneous listening imposed by other companies. The massive Jetcast grid of multiple server farms have been field tested for 7 years and are currently in operation throughout the world as the New York-based firm launches its broadcast model to the radio industry.
New technology breeds lower costs
“Saving big money is a no-brainer, plain and simple,” says Michael Dalfonzo of Jetcast, a veteran radio programming, research and software executive. “Stations are quite eager to hear about economical streaming ideas,” he continued, “But at the same time, Jetcast’s new technology increases stations’ bandwidth for higher audio quality.”
“Stations shouldn’t be penalized by their online success,” adds industry columnist Tom Zarecki who joins Jetcast with decades of radio programming, consulting and studio automation experience. He continues, “Typically, the more people streaming a station, the higher that station’s monthly bill, but Jetcast reverses that model. Even with huge Internet listening spikes, the station can have unlimited simultaneous listeners for the same low price each month.“
Stations can be “Jetcasting” (streaming) from their own Web site within 24 hours of making the commitment, using their existing graphics and industry standard Windows Media® Player as a convenience to station listeners.
