Virginia Beach Friends School Unveils New Community-wide Arts Program for Hampton Roads, Va., Residents
[USPRwire, Thu Aug 26 2010] FriendsArts, an after-school program for children and teens, will make its debut on September 13 at the Virginia Beach Friends School.
According to Head of School Edward Hollinger, “. . .a vibrant program of arts activities is central to a well-rounded education for young people. We’re excited about using the strong talents of existing and new staff members in a program that will not only be convenient for our Friends School families, but open to the greater Hampton Roads community.”
FriendsArts classes include drama, painting and drawing, a young actor’s workshop, creative movement, steel drums and filmmaking, plus individual instruction in piano, guitar, visual arts and acting.
FriendsArts Director and teacher Jennie Brown says, “We currently have opportunities for students ages 3-18 during the school week, but plans are in the works to expand our classes to Saturdays. We’re also looking at spring and summer productions, and opportunities for adults who’re eager to tap into their creativity through painting, acting or drumming classes.”
Registration is now open for 10- and 12 week classes that will run between September 13 and December 16. Prices range from $150 - $275 per session. Students interested in individual instruction can speak with Ms. Brown about an ongoing schedule of private lessons, priced at $25/half hour and $40/hour.
